Artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat, has broken the record for the highest auctioned artwork by an American as well as African American Artist, and for any artwork created after 1980.
Basquiat who died aged 27 (1988), had his skull painting ‘Untitled’ (1982) in auction at Sotheby’s. The artwork was bought by Japanese Billionaire, Yusaku Maezawa for a staggering 110.5million, making art history.
