Australia have produced some of the best pop acts over last 20 years, Kyle Minogue, Jason Donovan, Natalie Imbruglia to name a few.
I feel we’ll soon be adding the Germien Sisters to that illustrious list. I had the pleasure of watching them perform at the Camden Lock this week. The setting was vintage and many of the music’s finest have started their career at this venue it’s a true Hub of creativity.
Opening the show was a young man going by the name of Peter Gardiner, he was quite brilliant as he delivered lyrics of picturesque quality. If this lad doesn’t make it I’ll start supporting Man U (I’m a Liverpool fan).
Back to main act the Germien Sisters, comprising of Georgia, Ella & Clara. They positively glowed and brought the Aussie sunshine with them. The girls are multi-Talented crossing genres effortlessly with their own brand of indie, folk & pop.
Jamming together since childhood their chemistry on stage was clear for all to see. Georgia’s was turning up the venue with her guitar play which married well with her vocals as they illuminated the venue as she placed emotion into each lyric. Ella, brought the harmonies with her backing vocals and astute Cello play, she put the B in Bass also. Clara was steadily setting pace of the band with her rhythmic drumming and sweet backing vocals.
The particular tracks which lit up the night were “City lights” “Talking” and “I wish I could fly”. The girls have a beautiful charm and generate an air of radiance that’s wonderfully intoxicating.
The Germein Sisters will be appearing next at The Isle of Wight Festival over the weekend. A definite must see if you’re lucky enough to have brought a ticket.
