Rising Swedish artist, Hellberg chats to us about working with Leona Lewis, 480K + Youtube streams and more.  Hellberg has been streamed more than 70 million times whilst Leona Lewis has sold over 20 million records. Their new song is about trusting your own strength to get through tough times.

1.So to kick things off your new track with singer Leona Lewis ‘Headlights’ is already on 480k + YT streams in just a few days, how does that feel?

Yes! Feels amazing. I’m so happy about the track’s performance so far, and I’m especially happy about how everyone’s receiving it. Most people seem to really like it, which really warms my heart since it’s been a long process to get this out to the world.

  1. You yourself from the age of 13 were already all over the house music scene -What did your family do to encourage you?

My mom has always encouraged my artistry; she’s always been my biggest supporter. My pursuit of making music has never been something she’s wanted to suppress, and not my dad either. I’ve been performing ever since I was two years old, so I think they both knew that it was inevitable.

  1. Your track ‘The Girl’ blew up in 2015 receiving over 12 million streams! Do you remember the moment you received this news?

Yea so the success of that song was not something the label or I were prepared for. I always thought it was a song that was really good but honestly just a part of an EP I was putting together back then. But it really connected with people. The vocal is amazing, and I think people thought the production brought something new to the house scene. But yea I was definitely super excited and shocked that it took off like that.

  1. Who are your musical inspirations?

It varies, I definitely try to pull inspiration from different artists all the time, and it’s important for me to switch that up and always find something new to get inspired by. But in general, I love Diplo, Jon Bellion, Skrillex, The Chainsmokers, and a lot of pop artists/producers. I definitely get inspired by pop music the most out of all genres.

  1. What kind of music do you listen to today?

Yea it’s mainly pop, but I love musicals and Broadway so I listen to a lot of that, a lot of RnB and urban, some country, and still some EDM too even though I most of the time only go through EDM releases when I’m preparing for a DJ show.

  1. Who is your top played Spotify Artist/DJ?

Probably 5 Seconds of Summer, really enjoying their new album.

  1. What embarrassing songs might I find on your MP3 player?

Haha I don’t really see any songs I listen to as embarrassing. I think that people are insecure and feel like they don’t wanna be judged by other people for their musical taste which is ridiculous.

  1. Where would you most like to perform live?

Madison Square Garden and/or The Grammys.

  1. Who would you most like to open for?

Ed Sheeran. His tours are insane right now.

  1. If you weren’t a global DJ/ producer, what would you be doing?

  1. Do you play any instruments?

In the studio, I’m decent at keys. Would love to play the guitar but I’m struggling.

  1. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?

Country. I wanna move to Nashville for a few months and just make country-influenced music. I love it.

  1. What genre of music can’t you stand to listen to?

I don’t discriminate, but I generally have a hard time listening to death metal and genres like that, but I’m sure there are songs out there that I would enjoy if I gave it a chance.

  1. What hidden talents do you have?

I’m talented at dancing, not that good, but talented, if I gave it muuuuuch more time and energy I think I would have the potential to become really good.

  1. Do you enjoy writing music and/or lyrics?

Yes. It’s something I’m always trying to get better at.

  1. Where can we find you online?

Instagram and Twitter are my main hubs, but Facebook works too, and YouTube obviously! All my releases and music is on Spotify and I also have a website.
