It felt like being in an exquisite palace, attending a glamorous black-tie ceremony during Thai designer, Thunyatorn Ng’s runway show. Models walked in couture black satin dresses, accessorized with beautiful sashes, bows and gorgeous, primal headdresses. Each gold headdress was adorned with intricate details; sparkles beyond sparkles fit for any King or Queen. Her show was part of a collective showcase through, CAAFD (The Council of Aspiring American Fashion Designers). They seek to give a platform for “unique international designers”.
Born in Thailand, Thunyatorn Ng moved to New York City in 2009 and started out in the bridal make-up and hairstyling world. Later, she noticed a market for Thai clothing and accessories. So, after many years of research, she set up shop in Queens, New York. Her goal is to expand her brand and become the number one traditional Thai costume fashion brand in the U.S.
