The illustrious Hugh Jackman is set to make a triumphant return to the New York stage in 2025, marking a noteworthy occasion in the world of musical theatre. Well-known for his versatility and magnetic stage presence, Jackman will embark on a 12-concert residency at the iconic Radio City Music Hall. This series, aptly titled “From New York With Love,” is expected to offer a curated retrospective of his notable career, delighting fans and newcomers alike.
Commencing on the weekend of January 24, 2025, Jackman’s performances will extend through select weekends in April, May, June, and July, culminating in a grand finale on August 15 and 16. Audiences can anticipate an eclectic mix of musical numbers from some of Jackman’s most celebrated roles, including “The Boy From Oz,” “The Greatest Showman,” and “The Music Man.” In addition, the residency promises to feature “surprises from his career,” adding an element of intrigue and anticipation.
Jackman, a 55-year-old Australian actor with an impressive portfolio, has previously starred in Tom Hooper’s film adaptation of “Les Misérables” and has graced both the Off-Broadway and West End stages in revivals of “Oklahoma!” and “Carousel.” His past one-man shows, such as the 2019 world tour “The Man. The Music. The Show.” and the 2011 production “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway,” have garnered critical acclaim, further solidifying his status as a consummate performer.
The announcement of this residency was made via social media, where Jackman shared a video featuring his “Deadpool & Wolverine” co-star, Ryan Reynolds. The two actors recently starred in the Marvel blockbuster, which debuted in July and has since grossed an astounding $1.3 billion globally. Reflecting on his experience reprising the role of Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine, Jackman expressed, “It was the time of my life. Ryan and I had such a great adventure together. And I’ve been wondering what comes next…” Jackman posed the question: “Hey Ryan, do you want to come to one of my live performances at Radio City Music Hall?”
