London based singer songwriter J ELLE made her debut in 2017, with the self-penned 5 track ‘Phases’ EP released in December. Fusing together a modern alt-R&B sound with irresistible pop sensibilities, J Elle is already making waves having garnered support from the likes of High Snobriety, New Wave District and About To Blow.

Since then, she’s been busy writing and recording another EP, from which ‘Take Me Away’ is the first track to be revealed. “ I’m just happy, and in a different place physically and mentally than I was with my first project EP, and what I’m writing is really reflecting that.”
Distract’s Lollie caught up with J Elle for a quick chat in East London:
The forthcoming EP features a collaboration with Courtney Bennet.“Courtney is a UK R&B veteran as far as I’m concerned. I was so excited to get in the studio with her. We’ve been fans of each other for years so it was about time we did something. The fact I have a female feature on this EP is so important to me and it being her makes it even sweeter”
J Elle’s journey in music began when she was just 9 years old. Previously more focussed on football, she had been playing for Arsenal Girls before she started singing. Influenced by her brother who was strongly into R&B, J Elle started making music at the age of 16 – supported by her school which offered many opportunities for making and performing music – allowing her passion to grow into what is now her profession.
