Global Citizen, the World Health Organization (WHO), and a number of celebrities helped curate the “One World: Together At Home” global broadcast, in support of health care workers and the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Chris Martin kicked off the initiative on Monday, April 13th, to help unite the world and combat loneliness while social distancing, to help stop the coronavirus from spreading. Additionally, Hozier, John Legend, Charlie Puth, Niall Horan, Common, One Republic and others have all volunteered their time. Over 70 artists will be appearing or performing this weekend, including the wonderful couple, Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello.
Ahead of the virtual concert, Mendes shared comforting words with his fans on Instagram: “I know times are scary right now but I just wanted to check in with you all”.
Mendes has always used his platform to empower others. An education advocate who also performed at the 2018 Global Citizen Festival in New York City, founded, The Shawn Mendes Foundation to support youth, in 2019.
Cabello has also been one for supporting various charity initiatives; mainly assisting low-income families and children. The former Fifth Harmony singer donated all the proceeds of her hit song “Havana” to the American Civil Liberties Union for Dreamers, and has partnered with Save the Children.
