The queen of Hip Hop Soul she has been called by the world of music for nearly 20 years now.
Mary J Blige has been pretty quiet of late, no notable albums or singles on the radar. I was starting to really miss hearing her soul on a record before I was sent this catchy infectious track.
Like the original it acts as a shot of adrenalin to the body as it almost coerces you on to the dance floor. You don’t get 9 GRAMMYs and 8 multi – platinum albums by chance.
If you haven’t heard the original version of ‘Dance for me’ which is featured on the 2001 album ‘No More Drama’ you’d be mistaken for thinking this was an original dance floor sizzler.
On first listen I found myself basked in the sunlight of the melody. By the time the queen had opened up with her distinguished vocals I was in flip flops, shorts & T-shirt grooving on a beach Island setting. Such is the splendour of this track that it actually takes you there.
For those who know this track it’s a nostalgic journey and a testament of how time passes. I’m pleased to say that this remix gives a fresh new interpretation to Mary’s vocals.
A definite thumbs up in my opinion go kop it drop and rock it. . . Always fancied myself as a bit of a lyricist.
