In the bustling heart of New York City, where fashion dreams are both born and shattered, a new action is taking shape. The Models Bootcamp, led by visionary director Anthony Serrano, is not just another training program; it’s a transformative experience designed to elevate aspiring and experienced models to new heights. This is the story of how The Models Bootcamp is reshaping the landscape of the fashion industry, one model at a time.
Anthony Serrano, a seasoned industry expert, knew that the fashion world needed something more than just another workshop. “With all odds against me, I pulled through and successfully produced The Models Bootcamp. At our first-ever event, my goal was to inspire and educate everyone who walked through that door. Yet, it was I who ended up being the most inspired,” Serrano shares, reflecting on the journey that led him to create this unparalleled program.
Serrano’s vision was simple: to create a safe and empowering space where models could hone their skills, build confidence, and prepare for the competitive world of fashion. But what he didn’t anticipate was the profound impact the Bootcamp would have, not just on the participants, but on himself as well. “Not only was I moved by our experienced models, but the new faces, especially the young ones and their parents, left a lasting impact on me. Their tenacious support for their aspiring children highlighted the power of a strong foundation in this challenging industry.”
The Models Bootcamp is more than just studies in runway walking and posing. It’s a comprehensive program that covers every aspect of a model’s career, from personal branding to contract negotiation. Participants are guided by industry experts like Diva Davanna, Julian Perry, and Steven Cuoco, each bringing their unique expertise to the table.
“My Experience at The Models BootCamp was incredible!” shares Lolly Ferraro, an emerging model who attended the Bootcamp. “We started off with runway coaching with Davanna, which was very educational! We learned the 4 main bases of how to do a proper runway walk. I’ve never had a runway coach before and going into NYC Fashion Week with Davanna’s skill set is such a huge asset to my growth and super beneficial to achieve the perfect poses for the designers I will be walking for!!” Lolly’s excitement is palpable as she recalls the day’s activities. “After our lessons on comp cards and runway coaching, we experienced posing with the amazing Julian! His expertise on different commercial photoshoot poses really set us up for success and what to expect when being on a commercial set. During this process, he had us go in groups and threw out different brand names for us to creatively pose! Which I found really cool because I didn’t know some commercial shoots will allow you to make the shoot yours!!!”
But the Bootcamp wasn’t just about learning the technical skills. It was also about navigating the complex and sometimes treacherous waters of the fashion industry. “Steven had given us a wonderful talk on what to expect, what not to expect, and how to handle certain situations. As a model and being a woman in the industry, sometimes it can be challenging, especially when it comes to predators or someone who’s interested in paying you for things other than strictly modeling. I appreciated this because I’m young and still learning this industry.”
One of the most unique aspects of The Models Bootcamp is its behind-the-scenes documentary, directed by the talented Al3x Br3zzy. This reality TV-style production captures the raw, unfiltered experiences of the models as they navigate the Bootcamp, offering viewers an inside look at the highs and lows of the modeling world. The documentary has already started to capture the attention of casting agents and TV networks, offering participants a rare opportunity for exposure.
At its core, The Models Bootcamp is about more than just building a successful career; it’s about creating a safe and supportive environment where models can express themselves freely. “We created a safe space for these models to be heard, to feel protected, and to express themselves freely. This sense of community is what we aim to foster at The Models Bootcamp,” Serrano emphasizes.
The Bootcamp’s dedication to safety and support extends to every participant, especially the younger ones. “Every underage model attended with their parent, and our workshop ‘A Conversation with Steven Cuoco’ was as much for the models as it was for their parents. We emphasized the importance of a strong support system in ensuring the success and well-being of young or more mature talent,” Serrano adds.
As The Models Bootcamp continues to grow, Anthony Serrano and his team are dedicated to supporting their models long after the Bootcamp ends. Whether they pursue modeling as a passion or a profession, the Bootcamp is committed to helping them achieve their goals and realize their full potential.
The Models Bootcamp is more than just a training program; it’s a community, an indication, and a launchpad for the next generation of modeling talent. As Serrano reflects on the journey, he is filled with hope and excitement for the future. “We will continue to assist these models, share their stories, and help them grow in their careers, whether they pursue modeling as a passion or a profession.”
