X Factor VS TheVoice UK 💯- do we still even care?

With both shows now airing on ITV it’s going to be a real shoot out to see who will be victorious in the ratings war.

Xfactor👍👍
Created by entrepreneur Simon Cowell began its love affair with the British public 2004.

It’s had a hell of a run with its notable judges such as Sharon Osbourne, Kelly Rowland, Mel B, Gary Barlow amongst others. It was a breath of fresh air with its comical Public Auditions. There always a guaranteed YouTube sensation to have a giggle or to be absolutely amazed by the virtuoso vocals being showcased.

It’s that fun nature that had us reaching for the remote at that time on Saturday evening.

The Voice👍👍👍
Created by Dutch television producer John de Mol, who also conjured up the one and only Big Brother. Came up with the idea of a show that for the selection process only focused on the voice of the singer and nothing else.

Esteemed judges such as Will.i.am, Kylie Minogue, Boy George and Jennifer Hudson, have all sat with their backs to the singer in question. In their famous swivel chairs poised to hear that voice to press that will make them press that famous red button. This is the height of reality TV excitement.

THE BIG QUESTION-Are these shows still relevant?

The question of relevancy of both shows are more valid than ever. With the choice we have at our fingertips the old way of watching TV is dying a slow death.

Netflix, Now TV and other platforms such as Cody. We can watch what we want at anytime so would we really choose X factor or The Voice. The jury is truly out.

Both have moved to ITV -who will win in the ratings war?

Xfactor has been on the screen for nearly 15 years. In that time the core audience has grown themselves and have frankly seen all the tricks. It’s hard to keep creating that palpable tension year after year.

The Voice is exciting in its format as mentioned above but half the appeal of the show was that it was on rival station BBC1. The question must surely be how much singing reality shows  do you want to watch on the same channel. I think it’s disastrous that both are on the ITV as I think one is bound to lose out unfortunately.

Looks like the only winner in this rating war will be Xfactor as that’s the real first love of the producers.
