Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ Turns 20: Camden Celebrates Her Music and Style Legacy

Two decades after the release of Back to Black, Amy Winehouse's influence continues to shape British music, fashion and culture. Now, Camden is celebrating her legacy with an exclusive anniversary takeover and a star-studded tribute concert.

Twenty years after the release of her landmark album Back to Black, Amy Winehouse remains one of Britain’s most influential musical and cultural figures. From her unmistakable soulful voice to her signature beehive, winged eyeliner and retro-inspired style, Amy’s impact extends far beyond music.

To mark the album’s 20th anniversary, UMusic Shop Camden is hosting an exclusive Amy Winehouse takeover from 19–27 October 2026, bringing together limited-edition merchandise, anniversary vinyl releases and special fan experiences in the heart of the neighbourhood she famously called home.

Amy Winehouse, Camden and a Lasting Cultural Legacy

For Amy, Camden was more than an address. Its independent spirit, eclectic nightlife and thriving music scene became deeply intertwined with her identity and artistic journey.

Located in Camden’s historic Stables Market, UMusic Shop sits close to the Amy Winehouse statue, unveiled in 2014 as a permanent tribute to the singer. The location makes the anniversary particularly meaningful. Camden remains a place where fans can connect with Amy’s story, while her influence continues to be felt across contemporary British music, fashion and popular culture.

The venue has also become a destination for music-led cultural experiences, having previously hosted the JAY-Z 30 London pop-up, which Distract visited earlier this year.

Inside the Back to Black 20th Anniversary Collection

The takeover celebrates Amy’s distinctive visual identity through a collection of fashion pieces and collectables, including portrait T-shirts (£35), a Back to Black cap (£32), a polka-dot heart tote (£40) and a limited-edition keyring (£18).

Beyond the merchandise, fans can explore special anniversary editions of Back to Black, available from 23 October, including 3LP, 3CD and Zoetrope editions.

On Wednesday 21 October, the first 50 customers purchasing Amy Winehouse merchandise will also receive a mystery envelope, with one containing a pair of tickets to that evening’s Roundhouse concert.

Mark Ronson, Jorja Smith and More to Celebrate Back to Black at the Roundhouse

The sold-out Back to Black 20 concert at London’s Roundhouse on 21 October 2026 celebrates 20 years of Amy Winehouse’s landmark album.

The anniversary celebrations extend beyond the shop, with a special one-night-only concert at Camden’s iconic Roundhouse on Wednesday 21 October 2026.

Bringing together Amy’s original collaborators and a new generation of artists, the Back to Black 20 concert will see producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi reunite with the Amy Winehouse Band to perform the album in full. The lineup includes Jorja Smith, who headlined All Points East in London earlier this year, Lianne La Havas, Corinne Bailey Rae, FLO, Jessie Reyez, Yebba, Sasha Keable and more, paying tribute to one of British music’s most distinctive voices.

The one-night-only concert has officially sold out, reflecting continued interest in Amy Winehouse’s music two decades after the album’s release. However, fans who missed out on tickets can still join the waiting list via the official Roundhouse website.

The performance is also set to be broadcast on BBC Two later in October, extending the anniversary celebrations beyond Camden.

A Celebration Beyond Nostalgia

Two decades later, Back to Black remains a defining record in British music history, with Amy’s influence continuing to resonate across generations. In an earlier Distract interview with singer James Smith, he named Love Is a Losing Game as a song he wished he had written, a testament to the enduring power of her songwriting.

Rather than simply looking back, the Camden celebrations remind us how deeply Amy’s music, individuality and unmistakable style are embedded in the wider cultural landscape.

For an artist whose story was so closely connected to Camden, there are few more fitting places to celebrate her legacy.
