Nicki Minaj and Cardi B joined Migos on their hot track MotorSport, released prior to their Culture 2 album, to be released January 2018.
The audio was released back in November, which sounded nothing above the average Migos style track, a few listens later and the songs distinct characteristics were much appreciated.
Within the song, there is a constant deep undertone committing
The beat may be catchy, but for me, that wouldn’t be possible without the three artists and their fascinating on-screen personas. Not to mention each’s unique
The whole song is fire, and one verse seemed to stand out amongst the five. Cardi B, who happened to get proposed to by Migos’ OffSet while performing this song. Her short but electrifying verse was set alight when joined by the visuals for MotorSport. Followed by Nicki Minaj who seems to always kill her feature verses, her one minute verse in MotorSport had anticipated fire and relevant references, to which she of course delivered. Despite hints of a feud between both females due to a choice of lyrics which was later changed, both Cardi B and Nicki Minaj stood out on this Migos track.
One criticism that stands out is the arrangement of the verses. Listening to the song becomes a daze after Nicki’s boss verse, however right after is when TakeOff begins his verse. Seemingly unnecessary, it’s thought TakeOff’s verse would be of more relevance right after OffSet or Cardi B’s verse. It has to be said that Nicki steals the light from TakeOff, making it almost impossible for him to stand out on the track.
Although we all love Migos, on this particular track where we also have two Queen rappers, The rapping trio’s verses are, and I feel always will be, a sweet afterthought.
