CNN Films and OWN Secure Jamie Foxx-Produced Luther Vandross Documentary

In a captivating portrayal of Luther Vandross’s illustrious career and personal struggles, “Luther: Never Too Much” is set to hit theaters this fall, courtesy of distributor Giant Pictures. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and showcased at Tribeca, Hot Docs, and Nantucket Film Festivals, the documentary offers a close look at the life and influence of the late R&B legend.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dawn Porter, the documentary delves into Vandross’s extraordinary talents as a performer, composer, and producer, examining his profound impact on various music genres. “It was a joy to work on this film. Luther was a spectacularly talented performer, composer and producer. His influence was found in multiple genres, and it was a delight to discover each one,” award-winning filmmaker Dawn Porter, who directed the film, said in a statement. “It has been so much fun to see longtime fans remember why they love him, and new fans come to understand his brilliance.”

The film also candidly addresses Vandross’s challenges, including his struggles with his sexuality and overeating. Featuring testimonials from those who knew him best, the documentary includes discernment from musical collaborators like, Mariah Carey, Clive Davis, Richard Marx, and Jamie Foxx, who also serves as a producer.
