Inside the Kurt Geiger x Kelsey Randall London Fashion Week Launch Party

Kurt Geiger and Brooklyn designer Kelsey Randall celebrated their bold new collaboration with an official London Fashion Week party at the brand’s Oxford Street flagship, and Distract was there.

London Fashion Week opening day ended with a collision of Brooklyn attitude and London glamour as Kurt Geiger unveiled its new creative partnership with designer Kelsey Randall.

Held at the footwear and accessories brand’s Oxford Street flagship on 16 September, the on-schedule launch party introduced the collaboration’s first capsule collection, Brooklyn Baddie Meets London It-Girl.

Guests from across fashion, music and entertainment gathered against a maximalist, graffiti-covered backdrop that reflected the collection’s energetic visual language. Attendees included Mutya Buena, Zeze Millz, Bemi Orojuogun, Lady Mary Charteris, Helen Flanagan, actor Eric Shango and designer Hayden Williams.

Distract was there to capture the atmosphere and some of the evening’s standout looks as guests interpreted the unapologetically playful spirit of the collaboration.

Brooklyn attitude meets London glamour

Known for creating statement pieces worn by stars including Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Lorde and Hilary Duff, Kelsey Randall has built her world around colour, intricate embellishment and a rebellious, demi-couture sensibility.

For her first Kurt Geiger collection, the Brooklyn-based designer draws inspiration from the streets surrounding her Bushwick studio. Pizza rats, pigeons, bodega snacks, paint splatters and leopard print are transformed into expressive footwear, clothing, jewellery and accessories.

The result is intentionally loud. Towering platform boots arrive covered in dripping colour, faux-fur bags are decorated with playful patches and familiar New York symbols appear across printed separates and embellished pieces.

Rather than relying on postcard images of London and New York, Brooklyn Baddie Meets London It-Girl focuses on the personalities that give them their energy: confident, individual and unafraid to be noticed.

“Kurt Geiger has always celebrated individuality and creativity with a sense of joy,” Randall said of the partnership. “…Every piece tells a story, and every embellishment is an invitation to have fun with fashion.”

The first chapter of an ongoing collaboration

The capsule marks the beginning of an ongoing series of collections between Kurt Geiger and Randall, with future releases set to explore new narratives while retaining the craftsmanship, character and joyful self-expression established in this opening chapter.

Launching the partnership during London Fashion Week felt fitting: a colourful meeting point between New York’s downtown energy and the irreverent glamour associated with Kurt Geiger’s London identity.

The Kelsey Randall x Kurt Geiger collection is available online and in selected Kurt Geiger stores, with pieces starting from £29.
