There dance infused Pop sound and captivating presence has already caught the attention of Price James (friendly Fires, The Gossip, Peaches).
We catch up with dancy Pop duo SUNS for a 1 on 1.
Who are SUNS (three words only)
Andy: 2 London boys
How did SUNS begin?
Michael: We met at a friend’s party and quickly realised that we were into a lot of the same stuff. We lived down the street from each other in Hackney so started writing very soon after meeting.
Who are you listening to right now?
Andy: Christine & the Queens
If you could work with any Singer/Producer or band who would it be and why?
Andy: That is a tough one. I reckon this would change on a daily basis for me. For today I would maybe say Bloodyshy and Avant. Two great pop writers and producers from Sweden. Anyone who can produce Britney & Robyn and then go off and do a Miike Snow record is high up on my list.
Pick two Celebrities to be your parents- Who?
Andy: Yves saint Laurent & Sofia Coppola
Michael: Or Bjork and Naomi? Complexly talented Vs groundbreaking fashion legend.
In any case you’d need therapy for your inferiority complex, but ya know, it’s worth it.
Rate yourself(s) on a scale of 1-10?
Michael: 9: I’m a pretty decent person, but I’m not perfect.
What’s you favourite movie of all time?
Michael: That’s another shifting sand, but today I’ll say Akira. It’s such a good film and initiated my obsession with anime, thankfully.
If you had to be a Pokemon or a Digimon which one would you be?
Michael: Pokemon. I need to play Pokemon Go. Augmented reality at your fingertips is such a good idea. Need to give it a try.
Are you more of a Instagrammer twitter’er or a Snap chatter’er ?
Andy: Instagram all the way. I love how you can communicate via just images. We don’t post that much but im always on it checking out what people are doing/saying/seeing. Its brought a lot more art into peoples daily lives which I love the idea of. Its also brought a few more cats….
Michael or Janet?
Michael: Ermmmmmmmmmmmmmmm… Michael.
That’s not to take anything away from Janet. They are both amazing. Janet has done a lot for pop music and I loved No Sleep, from the last album, so, remarkably, she’s still going. But Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. Tough call though.
London or LA and Why?
Andy: London. I love LA but London must be doing something right if we re still here doing what we do despite the weather that we get. (Maybe that’s why everyone works so hard here!) I love visiting and working in LA but I really don’t think there is anywhere else like London. Both of us have really formed who we are as people and as artists in this city and that’s why we hold it so close.
