Berlin’s hottest property electronic pop duo: Scene Writers

We chat to Berlin’s hottest new project pop electro duo Scene Writers for an extremely personal one on one Q&A

Q.To kick things off who are Scene Writers?

We are Christian Huerter and Sebastian Nouvortne. We are a electronic pop duo based in  Berlin. We started to make music very early and played together in bands. During the last couple of years we got more into electronic music, DJing and producing at all.

Q. How would you describe your sound in three words only.

Energetic, wide and catchy

Q. Tell us about the new Single ‘Real Life Baby’

Originally that song is a song by Australian band Cookin’ on 3 Burners.  We heard it and instantly fell in love with the retro sound of it. As much as we love the instrumentation of the original song, we wanted to create something new out of it, more like an interpretation or a new perspective on it. So we ended up just using the vocal track and did a whole new  production from scratch.

Q. Who did you grow up listening to and who are you listening to right now?

We used to listen a lot to Coldplay, Radiohead and Deathcab for cutie and to this day we love their first records.

C: At the moment I fell in love with Bishop Briggs and I really can’t get enough of Chet Fakers “Built On Glass”.

S: I’m listening a lot to Odesza, Tame Impala, Flume and the new Lorde record.

Q. We would describe you guys as the love child of Kygo and Sia would you agree with  this?

That’s a big compliment! So first of all, thanks for that comparison. We really love the

wideness of Kygos sound world and there’s an incredible depth and power in Sia‘s songs.

Indeed, those attributes are really important to us as well.

Q. If you could work with any Singer/ songwriter/ rapper on a record who would it be and why?

C: Singer: Chris Martin, because I’m a really big fan

Songwriter: Ryan Tedder, because he’s one of the most impressive songwriters with an seemingly endless pool of ideas and creativity.

Rapper: Jay Z, cause I love the sound of his voice.

S:  Singer: Tyler Joseph, the singer of twenty one pilots, because he is a great singer and I like his voice.

Songwriter: As Thom York has written iconic songs, I would love to work on a song with him.

Rapper: I’d pick Kanye West because he is a great producer, too.

Q. If you had to get two celebrities to play your parents in a movie who would it be?

C: My dad would be played by Jean Pen. Normally he’s my answer to the question “Who would you like to have a bar night with?” But I guess it would be fun to see him playing my dad, too!

S: I would pick Michelle Pfeiffer to play the role of my mom.

Q. If Hollywood made a movie about your life who would you like see play the lead role as you?

C: I’d love to see Jake Gyllenhall play as me. Though we got SLIGHTLY different figures.

S: As people sometimes say I look like Charlie Hunnam from the series “Sons of Anarchy”

I would pick him!

Q. What’s the longest time you’ve gone without a shower / brushing your teeth while on the road?

3 days!!

A: We used to tour with a camper once and indeed it was really hard to find a shower sometimes, maximum time without a shower was like 3 days. But these days there’s always time for it. There must be time for it!

Q. What’s next? Are you both going to be touring this / next year?

We are producing and writing songs all the time, so that’s always on our schedule. As it’s  almost end of the year already, we’re putting all of our energy and effort into preparation for next year touring wise. Of course there will be several shows and sets that we will be playing. We just started to plan for 2018, but we definitely can’t wait to tour!
