The duo have nabbed the Will.i.Am seal of approval and have also attracted an impressive following on their social channels, simply through touring and organically growing a fanbase.
Their first gig at a Birmingham University fashion show, organised through a friend, had drawn in a large student crowd. They went on to play their second show in Germany.
Alongside recording songs like ‘Sucker’ and ‘Imma Do My Thang’ for their social networks, Misunderstood started producing and directing their own music videos –filming themselves as they travelled. Their fan base grew – and their dedication to their own marketing paid off as they accumulated huge numbers of fans on Facebook and even convinced promoters to let them support big acts like Chipmunk, Stooshe, DJ Fresh and Boys II Men on their UK tours.
“Our message is simple,” says Stephan. “It’s about being free to be yourself. It’s about being happy in you. It’s about having fun. It’s storytelling about the people who aren’t being shouted about. You’ll see and hear that in everything; the music, our style and in our videos. Our personalities and beliefs are bottled into our music.”
Checkout their debut single ‘Ghetto Style’. The song was written by Misunderstood and Maegan Cottone (Little Mix, Britney Spears, Olly Murs).
